Calling and Railway Radio Amateurs or anyone interested in railways generally. Firac the International Federation of Railway Radio Amateurs founded in 1964 may interest you. The organisation has a membership of around 1900 members globally, located in 20 countries and with a number of events organised annually, FIRAC is the conncetion between railways and radio. There are a number of contests, plus national meetings and the annual congress. As leader of the miscellaneous group (M/C) you can contact me for more information and also to join the organisation.  I try to publish a quarterly newsletter giving information on Firac activities. We hold regular nets on the following days. Sunday morning at 08.30 UTC on 14.336 MHz +/- QRM, Wednesday afternoon conditions permitting on either 21.385 MHz or 14.290MHz from 14.30 U.T.C.  If the band conditions are poor please listen or call on 20 Metres otherwise if you have the Echolink system I should be around at 15.00 hrs UTC to maintain contact with regular participants. To cover running costs there is a small  subscription fee of 1€ or 1$ US.
